Developing technology-based carbon removal projects at scale in Canada.
DeepSky is a climate tech startup with a goal to make Canada the prime spot for carbon removal. Founded in October of 2022, DeepSky has secured $75 million in funding to perform Direct Air Capture (DAC) of carbon, with a “save the world” attitude. Founder Frederic Lalonde teamed up and appointed Damien Steel, a former venture capitalist, to be DeepSky’s CEO and guide Canada to be a leader in the industry. DeepSky is testing out 10 DAC technologies and envisions the carbon removal industry to be a “multi-trillion dollar” market in the near future. DeepSky has partnered with more than a dozen companies in the field to advance the research and development of the carbon removal process. They have also gained exclusive access to Exterra Carbon Solutions’ carbon storage plant, giving them the tools and space to make their vision come to life.
DeepSky was the first company to launch a CO₂ mineralization storage project in partnership with Carbfix. This allows DeepSky to capture carbon from the air and then transform it into stone underground.
