If I could sum up my reasons for loving what I do into one week, last week would come pretty close..

We started off the week announcing our investment in Perceptive Space which is on a mission to make humanity’s ambitions in space resilient to space weather. After first meeting Padmashri Suresh several months ago, I immediately knew she was someone we had to back. She has cornered the market in space weather expertise, and beyond this is a brilliant leader with a world-changing vision. It has been an honor to learn from her and I can't wait to see what Perceptive Space accomplishes in the coming years.

Later in the week I had the chance to attend the NEXT Canada Venture Day and left feeling incredibly inspired by the founders in the program who are betting on themselves, and the potential upside of taking big risks while the 99% of the world tends to focus on the negatives associated with risk. The community NEXT has cultivated continues to be such an important part of our ecosystem.

Finally, Inshaal Qadir and I headed to Kitchener to visit Myra Arshad, co-founder and CEO of ALT TEX. Those who know ALT TEX likely know that they convert food waste to clothing materials, but this visit showed us the nuance and complexity of this process, which this team has carefully mastered over the last few years. We spent the day talking about bioreactors, the food waste that makes the best polyester alternative (turns out corn is better than apples!) and much more that left us feeling so excited about the potential for ALT TEX to truly change the future of sustainable fashion.

I am so grateful for the incredible founders that share their time, visions, and expertise with me and who take big risks for the potential to transform the world for the better ☄️🌽🧪
